RAINY SEASON REGIMEN :


In rainy season the digestive power is weak.Vata dosh gets aggravated.Due to poor digestive fire the doshas start vitiating one another which leads to many diseases.
Hence one needs to adapt diet and lifestyle which balances all doshas and restores digestive fire.

Dietary Rules:

  • Food which is sour,salty and slightly oily should be used.
  • Consume simple &light food.
  • Food should be fresh and hot.
  • Oldrice,oldbarley,old wheat ,green gram,lentils are recommended.
  • Ghee,milk,&mastu(water over curd) should be taken with food.
  • Vegetables :
    prefer non leafy vegetables like pumpkin,bittergourd,pointedgourd,bottlegourd,snakegourd,yam(suran)cluster beans,appleguard,methi.Avoid leafy vegetables.
  • Fruits :
    seasonal fruits such as pomegranate,plum,pears,cherries,javaplum(jamun),litchi,peach,karvanda(Carissa carandus),guava,jackfruit.
  • Nonvegeterians should go for lighter meat preparations such as soups.
  • Kitchen spices such as garlic,pepper,ginger,asafoetida(hing) jeerapowder,turmeric,coriander helps to enhance digestion and improves immunity.
  • Honey intake is adviced.
  • Ginger with rocksalt before meal is beneficial.
  • Haritaki with rocksalt is useful.
  • Prefer boiled water.
  • Grilled items such as bhutta,chana,grilledcorn,roastedpapad.
  • Better to consume food within 3hours of preparation.

Lifestyle recommendations:

  • Keep surroundings dry.
  • Avoid sleeping in day time as it hampers digestion and slows down metabolism.
  • Keep your body dry and warm.
  • Need to take care of foot and skin.
  • One can undergo panchkarmatreatment.Recommended treatments are :
    A] Udvartana
    B] Basti
    C] Abhyangam
  • Use of perfumes is recommended.

Lifestyle recommendations:

  • Avoid heavy and stale food.
  • Avoid leaf vegetables, raw food,meat,fish.
  • Avoid junk and street food.
  • Don’t exert yourself.
  • Avoid refrigerated , cold storage food stuffs.
